25 October: Winter has already arrived

| Early snow lays a white blanket across Rally Norway’s landscape 107 days before the event begins. The first snow has fallen on Rally Norway’s route. On 25th October, 20cm of freshly fallen snow sits on many of the roads that will be Special Stages in Norway’s official FIA candidate race for the World Rally Championship on 10th and 11th February 2006. Rally Norway will be located in very ”snow-safe” areas that stretch from the Winter Olympics territory around Lillehammer to the depths of the Finnskogen forest. In this region winter snow conditions are as close as possible to guaranteed. Rally Finnskog Norway, the predecessor event to Rally Norway, has been run as a European Rally Championship round and in several consecutive years not one stage has been cancelled or moved due to the conditions. Believe it or not, October snowfall is not unusual in this region!  The Rally Norway region on 25th October 2005. 107 days before the event starts, snow falls on the streets in Kongsvinger, host town for two Special Stages on 10th February 2006. The entire Rally Norway region is known for predictable winter conditions. |
