Carlsson quickest in shakedown
Daniel Carlsson was quickest in the shakedown ahead of Rally Norway. The Swedish Mitsubishi driver is priving to be a challenging opponent for Henning Solberg as this weekend’s rally approaches.
”I think it will be a tough battle, not just between Henning and me. We won’t be able to get rid of Thomas Schie too easily,” says Daniel Carlsson who recently surprised everyone when took third place in the Swedish Rally. He started with a new car that had not been tested, a new co-driver, went quickest in the shakedown and took third place in the WRC event.
“It was an unbelievable experience, and without doubt the high point of my career to date. There are not many who have been third in a World Rally Championship event, espeically not with so many preparations missing,” added Carlsson.
Thomas Schie recorded the next best time in the shakedown with his Ford Focus, 2,1 seconds behind Carlsson. Mads Østberg var third in his Subaru.
Henning Solberg played it cautiously and surprised many by coming in with a time 11 seconds slower than Daniel Carlsson.
”Don’t read too much into it. We only drove once and everything worked perfectly. It’s tomorrow that counts.” sais Henning Solberg.
