Petter Solberg to take part in Rally Norway recce

Petter Solberg and many senior members of the Subaru World Rally Team are coming to Norway to participate in the recce of Rally Norway’s Special Stages. It shows Subaru are taking the potential Norwegian WRC round seriously.

Subaru’s factory drivers Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson with their co-drivers Phil Mills and Glenn Macneall are coming directly from Uddeholm Swedish Rally to the Rally Norway recce.   Also with the visiting group will be Subaru’s famous sporting boss Luis Moya, who was Carlos Sainz’s co-driver when the Spaniard was World Champion in 1990 and 1992.  There will also be representatives from Subaru in Japan.

”This is a very positive signal that cannot be interpreted any other way than that the Subaru team think it’s likely that there will be a Norwegian WRC round from 2007.  I can see no other reason to send the sporting director, both drivers and co-drivers here for almost a week to get to know the Special Stages of Rally Norway’s course,” says Rally Norway MD Even Wiger.  The Subaru World Rally Team arrive in the Rally Norway region on Monday 6rh February, with the recce taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Although not participating, Petter Solberg will attend the rally event itself which is on 10th and 11th February.
