Sweden and Norway in cooperation

According to the European Union Interreg IIIA support programme, economical support has been released to four recently instigated projects, all affecting the border regions between the Swedish County of Värmland and the Norwegian Hedmark.

One of the supported projects is WRC Scandinavia - a bilateral cooperation between Uddeholm Swedish Rally and RallyNorway. The City of Hagfors is the owner of the project together with the municipality of Våler in Norway.

All four projects will equally share SEK 4 375 000 - money coming from a Regional Fund of the European Union.

What are your ambitions with WRC Scandinavia - what will you achieve?

- Our ambition is to enthuse at least 10 000 international spectators to remain in our area for one week. We want them to stay as tourists the period between the two rallies - Bertil Klarin - the Swedish Manager declares.

Even Wiger explains that the money from the Regional Fund will be very useful for both organisations.

- It's important for us to have long term projects with good financial backing and we are very satisfied to find out that not only the two rallies are so called "pairing events" but the communities of the region have the same intention and are aiming towards a mutual goal.
