1 year until Rally Norway 2009

Rally enthusiasts in Norway can start counting down the days, as it is now exactly one year until the launch of Rally Norway and the preparations are already underway.

Petter and Henning Solberg and talented newcomer Mikkelsen will be among the top drivers hoping to capture a WRC title on Norwegian winter roads in the biggest spectator event in Norway. The last time, in 2007, they were cheered on by more than 200,000 spectators. And there is no reason to believe that the event will draw any less of a crowd in 2009. The first hotel room bookings and inquiries about tickets have already been received.

WRC is extremely important for the entire region and the event gives a much needed boost to the local economy. It is also an incentive that creates enthusiasm and optimism. All the municipalities and both the counties involved regard Rally Norway as a growth-stimulating measure.

There are good winter conditions in the whole of the Rally Norway region from Lillehammer to Kongsvinger. There is plenty of snow and the special stages have a solid ice base.

”We have already started building up the Rally Norway organization and this time we have more time and can work at a more relaxed pace. Rally Norway 2009 promises to be an even bigger party for the spectators and an even better event for the drivers and the organizers, Stig Rune Kjernsli, Clerk of the Course in Rally Norway, said.
