Rally Norway worth more than 10 million Euros

Norway’s first WRC round 15–18 February 2007 provided more than 10 million Euros in additional income to the region where the world championship took place, according to a recent report published by Østlandsforskning, an independent, governmental research institution at Lillehammer, the city of the 1994 Olympic Games.

In addition to the 10 million Euros come VAT and the international marketing value from extensive media coverage abroad.

According to the report 77% of the visitors said that they will visit next WRC round in Norway. 12% said may be and 9% said they will join again if it takes place close to where they live. So, in summary, 99% said they will join the next Rally Norway.

Another positive score is that 95% of the rally spectators ranked Rally Norway as good or very good, according to Østlandsforskning. ‘It would be very difficult to gain better scores,’ concludes the research report.

– The research report confirms how important such an event is to the rally region and Norway, and our public score, publicity and comprehensive media coverage encourages as taking on new events and challenges, says Even Wiger, managing director of Rally Norway.

The research project was carried out on behalf of Hedmark county.
