Closing date for entries to
Rally Norway extended one week
Although all entries being top class cars, the closing date for entries to Rally Norway 2009 has been extended one week. This is aiming to offer new opportunities to a number of potential competitors who has asked for more time to get organised so they can sign up for the Norwegian WRC round.
The initial closing date was Tuesday 6 January 15.00 hours. Now this has been extended until Tuesday 13 January 15.00 hours. Stig Rune Kjernsli, Clerk of the Course, confirms that there is a steady stream of entries. All cars registered are top class N4 and A8. There are also several participants with the new S2000 cars becoming the favourite class from 2010.
Sebastien Loeb, Daniel Sordo, Jari Matti Latvala, Mikko Hirvonen have all already signed up and will have to fight Henning Solberg who is aiming to win in his home country with his new contract to compete in a Ford Focus RS WRC 08.
‘A slightly lower number of entries so fare compared to 2007 is as expected. But looking at the entries from a sportman’s point of view, it a very comprehensive entry list’, says Kjernsli.
‘However, there may be no surprise that we are still expecting more drivers to sign up for Rally Norway 2009 including our own world champion Petter Solberg. I hope indeed that a few days extension will help a number of competitors get their complicated puzzles organised’, says Stig Rune Kjernsli.
